Deputy President, Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Mr Adekunle
Mokuolu, has said that the society has stepped up surveillance to end
incidences of building collapse and construction failure in the country.
Mokuolu made this disclosure on Thursday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.
He said that the measure was to guide against quackery and ensure proper supervision of projects.
The Vice President acknowledged the fast rate at which development is
happening, and that the instrument of regulation even within the state
level is really not effective.
Mokuolu stressed the need to have personnel on site to continuously
monitor construction activities to guide against workers compromising on
standards.
