Christ did not only preach about the ideal, He lived the ideal life. For everything He taught, he lived safe one – marriage.
Christianity, to my understanding, is about striving to become Christ-like in all facets of living. Hence, if this view is accurate, it means if I am to deal with cases of betrayal, theft, murder, and a host of other life experiences, I can easily copy from Christ and address them just the way He addressed such when he encountered them as a mortal, which I am.
However, Christ preached extensively about marriage but my bible has no record of His marital life. I delved into this subject, not to argue for the flaw in Christ’s person, but, to express my bewilderment about the extent to which one can use Christ’s life to adjudicate and resolve marital crises that abound, as ever, in our society?
NB: For those who would reflect on this write-up from a religious perspective, it should be established that the writer, John Odebode is a firm believer in Christ and everything He represents.
I am John Odebode and I want to know.
